Wee LaF for the August 12 Weekend - LaF 170

The summer blockbuster season might be winding down, but the LaF podcast knows what is still worth your time to go see in theaters. Episode 170 has our hosts, Ryan Bull and Richard Lusk, previewing three new releases for the August 12th weekend. First, Sausage Party is an R-rated animated comedy starring Seth Rogen. Food has an existential crisis when they realize their purpose in the world is only to get eaten. Next, Pete's Dragon provides more family friendly fare as it reboots the Disney classic with the cast of Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, and Karl Urban. Lastly, Meryl Streep stars in/as Florence Foster Jenkins, a true story of a rich old lady who wanted to be a opera singer and had no idea how horrible her voice truly was.

Suicide Squad - LaF 169

LaF reviews Suicide Squad on episode 169. Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto star in DC Comics newest feature film that has broken records for an August release. The film turns the tables by making the villains the protagonists and charging them with having to save the world. Our hosts, Ryan Bull and Richard Lusk, take two different approaches to reviewing this film so it comes as no surprise that they also end up talking about Marvel vs DC, the future of comic book movies, and if plot even matters.

Jason Bourne - LaF 167

LaF goes spying for episode 167 as the guys review Jason Bourne. Matt Damon returns after nine years as super spy Jason Bourne for the fourth time. The movie centers around Bourne coming to grips with his past and deal with a vicious CIA director(Tommy Lee Jones) at the same time. The fellas are not in agreement about the film so things get tense as they discuss the film, how the series is aging, and how well the film works in a post-Snowden world.

Wee LaF for the July 29th Weekend - LaF 166

Episode 166 has our hosts Richard Lusk and Ryan Bull previewing three new films theaters for the July 29th weekend. First, Matt Damon returns for the fourth time as Jason Bourne in Jason Bourne, which also stars Tommy Lee Jones and Alicia Vikander. Jason returns to America to dig into past, all the while the government tries to stop him. Next, Bad Moms tries for the crown of comedy of summer. The film stars Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn, and Kristen Bell as three overworked moms who are fed up with the head of the PTA(Christina Applegate). Lastly, Nerve has Emma Roberts and Dave France caught up in an online game where the money goes up as the stunts become more dangerous.

Star Trek Beyond - Laf 165

Shocking our hosts Ryan Bull and Richard Lusk are not in agreement about this film. First, Star Trek Beyond is the third film for the rebooted franchise that stars Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto going up against their most dangerous adversary ever. Next, Ice Age: Collision Course has Manny, Diego, and Sid going on another animated adventure in what might be the final film in the franchise. Last, Lights Out is out to prove that PG-13 horror can still be scary. The film stars Teresa Palmer and Gabriel as a sister and brother who must fight a monster that comes out when the lights turn off. The Infiltrator - LaF 163

LaF dives deep into the based-on-a-true-story criminal drama The Infiltrator for episode 163. The Brad Furman directed film stars Bryan Cranston as U.S. Customs official Robert Mazur who went undercover to bring down Pablo Escobar's money laundering operations in the 80's. In addition, to Mr. Cranston's powerful performance, John Leguizamo, Benjamin Bratt, and Diane Kruger help to create one of the best ensembles of the year. In addition to reviewing the film, our hosts Richard Lusk and Ryan Bull compare the film to other recent crime dramas, argue about how John Leguizamo steals every scene he is in, and try to figure out why this film got released in the middle of summer.

The Secret Life of Pets - LaF 161

Lasty, Viggo Mortensen stars in Captain Fantastic as a hippy father trying to keep custody of his children after his wife's death causes her family to challenge the manner the children are being raised.

The Legend of Tarzan - LaF 159

The film marks the first-time in thirty years that a live action Tarzan film has swung into theaters. Wee LaF for the July 1 Weekend - LaF 157

LaF is ready to celebrate Independence Day by previewing three new films coming out in theaters for the July 1st weekend. The summer box office continues to grow ever more crowded, but don't despair Richard Lusk and Ryan Bull are here to let you know what to go see. First, The BFG is Steven Speilberg's first Disney every, and the sixth Roald Dahl novel to be turned into a film. Next, The Legend of Tarzan is the first live action adaption in over thirty. Alexander Skasgard and Margot Robbie play everyone's favorite jungle couple in the film. Lastly, The Purge: Election Year picks up two years after the last film. Now, a Senator(Elizabeth Mitchell) is running for President on the platform of discontinuing the Purge. Things do not go well from there.

Forsaken - LaF 156
